Fun Destinations
Not just fun for kids!
Northern Michigan is a much anticipated yearly destination for many families with children. There's so much to see and do throughout all four seasons, there's no possibility of boredom!
Exploration and animals...what's not to love?
What do kids love? Exploring - especially when animals are involved. That's just what kids will find when they visit Raven Hill Discovery Center in East Jordan, home to a number of exotic animals as well as a regional science and technology center. To visit Raven Hill is to immerse oneself in a world of discovery by trying and touching. Animals also abound at the Call of the Wild Museum in Gaylord. With over 60 wildlife displays, a Wildlife Theater, and their hands-on Learning Center, this destination is definitely worth visiting!
What better way to burn off some energy while appreciating nature than with a visit to the Grass River Natural Area. GRNA encompasses lakes, a meandering river, rushing streams and crystal clear creeks — a haven for plant and animal life! A network of trails with observation platforms and boardwalks traverse an educational area providing easy access to upland, wetland and aquatic habitats. A portion of this five-and-a-half mile system is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
At the Great Lakes Children's Museum in Traverse City, kids will have a blast with their new hands-on water table exhibit. Visitors can interact directly with moving water, channeling and redirecting it in hundreds of different ways. The Museum's new toddler area, Toddler Beach, is colorful, cozy, comfortable, and filled with activities for the youngest of curious visitors. In addition to the interactive exhibits, the Museum has an "Art Pavillion" where materials for "make-and-take" art activities are made available. The art projects are changed every two weeks so that repeat visitors can experience a variety of art activities.
Indoor fun & games
At Wilderness Crossings in Traverse City, they offer families a large arcade for all ages, a two story laser tag arena, indoor mini-golf, and cosmic bowling on weekends. Northern Lights Recreation Center, nestled on the outskirts of Harbor Springs, features an arcade, glow bowling, and an indoor mini-golf course. In Petoskey, The Jungle is where kids go to play. With an arcade designed for all ages, an event room any kid would love to have their birthday party in, indoor golf, and exotic animals, the Jungle is a unique destination the whole family will enjoy.
