Mushrooming & Orchards: Northern Michigan is full of wonderful things to eat!
 You
may find what you're hungry for in the woods, fields and orchards north
of the 45th parallel. One of the most popular edibles is the morel
mushroom, honored with the National Morel Mushroom Festival in May. The
festival features the uncommon adventure of searching the Northern
Michigan woods for gourmet mushrooms. Guided mushroom hunts, seminars
on wild edibles, contests, and a carnival for the kids are festival
highlights. Northern Michigan also offers many orchards featuring
apples, cherries, peaches, plums, raspberries, grapes, pumpkins,
donuts, jams, jellies and cider. Real farm atmospheres are featured at
many locations throughout the region, in addition to seasonal festivals
that are perfect for family outings.
