Spring 2008 Highlights and Hotspots!
April showers bring May flowers; and fabulous fungi, too! Michigan's famed Morel Mushroom is celebrated throughout the North as the main ingredient in specialty dishes offered by regional restaurants and eateries, and as the honored guest at Boyne City's 48th Annual National Morel Mushroom Festival from May 15th-18th. Trillium in Bloom! In late May, Northern Michigan forests come alive with the annual and much anticipated appearance of snowy white Trillium ("Trillium Grandiflorum"). These majestic plants carpet Northern Michigan woodlands for a period of 2-3 weeks providing an incomparable visual display. Not sure where to go? Check out our scenic drives to enjoy this one of a kind experience. And remember to look, but not touch...picking Trillium is strictly prohibited.
